The plane. We didn't know where we were or where we were going. Right On the edge of Conversa. Santa Ana. Hello fern. Let the right one in. Gato. Hoops. Thinking about what to think about Cloud Forest. Crocodile River. Crocs. Mmm, Coffee! Good joke. Playa de Jaco. The breakfast view. Serenity Now! The jungle line. River dog. Rivers flow into the ocean. Natural sculpture. Easy. Rough terrain. Neverland! Rock climbing in sandals is not recommended. Shutter island. This bird was alive. Break. Wave breaks rock. These things were slippery. After getting out there, the tide came in and I was almost stranded. We found something we didn't want to find. This was a hot road. All in a day's work. The tastiest meal was also the ugliest. Crab. Goodnight. Cristin wondered. Mimosas and fresh fruit by the pool. Shrub tunnel. The mouth of the shrub. Anchored. Los Suenos Marina. Boat, Brad, Bush Overload Happy Smile and nod. Oh, so that's how. Cristin's turn. Pro. TO THE TREES!!! Here I am ziplining. Treehouse to treehouse. I think that's right. Zzzz. Perfect. Rockin' Robin. It was a horses. Cocal Never let Cristin hold the winnings. She doesn't know when to stop. Swing. ymmmm Shadey bikes. Behind the lady surfer exchange is the building where the ferrets eat under the lights. Websurf Email. We hired a bus to take us north. Actual size. Relax. Back at Conversa. Higher ground. Relax. Standing in the sun. Beautiful Rain Forest. Fellow hostel residents. Missing. Loungin' Room. Art. Rooftop. Volcano in the distance. 5:30am Water whistle. Up and out. I'm hungry. Purple people love. What about the others? The early ride to breakfast. Bring it. Breakfast at a coffee plantation. Cinco. Plants grow. Old Mill. Some beans. A nice big plot to spread out all of the beans. I'd live there. Roaster. Coffee-ers. Giant leaf. It's 900ft down to that pool of acid, from the ridge of the volcano above the clouds. No idea who those people are. I didn't put those clouds there. DO NOT DESCEND TO THE CRATER Yay! The mystical gardens. How big is your screen room? Hut. Brrrds. Conyer. Two Toucans. and sometimes things like this happen. Gots the blues. White faced. Spider Monkey. Butter. Hmm Hmm Hmm Bird. Buffet in the jungle. Just after pouncing at a young indian tourist. I'm going to meow. I Meowed. Lazy cat. Trick or treat. The guide explained how the frogs are very poisonous, but only if you eat them. I said, "Oops!" Our ride. Off to the right, there's a slight drop. Misty. Beam. Fall. Extreme angle! Drive! In Costa Rica, school buses are green. Uhoh! Taxi? We were going 55mph. Foggy. Vroomer. Need a trim? Don't do it. It costs $26 per person to leave Costa Rica. Fly away home.

Imagine a place out of land’s site, in the middle of the ocean. Waves are forming. Each is following the next. They are perfectly curled waves. They are all aiming to crash in the same spot. Just before each crashes, they hit an invisible wall and the water rides it up into the sky. This is where rain is made.

I am in the middle of the southbound lane on the nearest interstate. I notice the trail of dotted lane lines dividing the lanes. So, I place my left foot in the middle of one of the lines, put my hands in the air, and lean south into a cartwheel. Hand after hand and foot after foot, each land perfectly in the series of endless dotted lines. I can cartwheel faster than the traffic. I can make it to the Keys in no time.

A younger me went to Publix with my Mom. Before she started shopping, we went to the party department and ordered some helium balloons. We ordered twenty green balloons on strings. While they were being prepared, I sat down and took off my socks and shoes. My mom handed the balloons to me one at a time until I finished tying one to each of my toes and fingers. Now it was time to get some shopping done.

One hobby of mine was making short movies. Spreading out blankets and pillows randomly on the floor with a rope strung across them, I would turn the camera sideways and pretend I was a mountain climber. In a suit with a cape, a magic wand, and some stop/start camera tricks, I was a magician that could make anyone disappear. To make animations, I’d spend hours making sketch after sketch, placing them one-at-a-time in front of the camera, and hitting record and then immediately hitting stop for each one. I did the same process with legos.

After filming, I would run the video cable into the VCR to record the video onto tape, but I would run the audio from a walkman so I’d have music accompanying the video. I remember the November I decided to make a claymation. I told my mom I needed her to buy me some clay, but she gave me a condition. If she was going to buy it, the first project I did had to be Thanksgiving themed. I recall picking out many seasonally colored clays. I created a grand claymation of pilgrims boarding the boats to sail to the new world. Once they arrived, they all unloaded. One of the pilgrims met a turkey and an “Indian”. The pilgrim whipped out his ax and lopped off the turkey’s head. In excitement he spun around to share the moment with the Indian, but accidentally took his head too. Blood went everywhere. All of this was overdubbed with the lovely ragtime music of Scott Joplin.

I was almost twelve when I spent the time and effort making these films that made me appreciate real productions.
